INDO COVID 19 Policy

Introduction

This has been developed by the Irish National Dart Organisation (INDO). The measures and procedures outlined in this document are under constant review and updated as advice from government, health authorities and evolves in line with the gradual lifting of social restrictions.

All members are expected to strictly adhere to government guidelines and keep up to date in relation to any change to this guidance.

Before you arrive 

You must stay at home if you:

  1. Have been in contact with someone with COVID-19 in the last 14 days.

  2. Have been overseas or exposed to someone with COVID-19 in the last 14 days.

  3. Have COVID 19 & flu-like symptoms or are feeling unwell.

  4. Live with a person who is cocooning/isolating due to medical reasons (High risk people)

You must:

  1. Check with your GP prior to playing if you are in a high-risk health category.

  2. Find out what protocols are in place by the INDO.  

  3. We ask that all players please wash, sanitise, and disinfect all related darts equipment before arrival to venue to avoid cross contamination.

On arrival

  1. In advance of the competition, attendees/participants (players, officials, family members etc.) are asked to travel to the venue alone or with members of the same household.

  2. Participants are asked to arrive as close as possible to times set out by the (INDO).

  3. Only one parent/guardian should accompany younger players where possible.

  4. Players should, ideally, bring a small bottle of hand sanitizer and antiseptic wipes with them.

  5. Participants will be required to sign a disclaimer and also sign in and out with name and contact number.

Physical Distancing Behaviours 

To protect against infection:

  1. There is to be strictly NO hugging or touching or shaking of hands of any kind when in playing matches to keep the risk of skin to skin contact to a minimum.

  2. There is to be strictly NO sharing darts and equipment at venue to avoid cross contamination.

  3. Participants are encouraged to adopt good respiratory hygiene, by using their elbow to cover their nose and mouth when they cough or sneeze or to use a tissue which is immediately disposed of.

  4. All players to wash hands with soap and water before match, sanitiser will be provided in between matches, wash again after this match is over. This is for you own safety and ask to comply. Also, darts equipment should be washed down after match and sanitise.

  5. Wash your hands frequently with soap and water or hand-sanitizer, before and after eating, after going to the toilet, sneezing, and coughing.

  6. All players must maintain a safe distance within the area to restrictions directed by HSE (2 metres currently)

  7. Avoid touching your face.

  8. Keep your distance from people who are obviously sick.

  9. We ask that all players stay within their own groups for contact tracing.

  10. No chairs are allowed to be moved. This is strictly prohibited. They have been spaced out by the INDO accordingly.

During the tournament

  1. There will be guided signage on entry and exit points to arena rooms for players which must be adhered too, this will keep a low volume of people from gathering in the one space.

  2. Sanitising stations will be at entry/exit points to arena rooms, please use them upon entry/exit.

  3. While a player is at the Oche his opponent will be required to stand the designated distance away.

  4. As soon as matches are over players must exit the arena room through exit point only as quickly as possible and wash hands to make way for other players coming in to playing area for their allocated time.

  5. Only people playing will be allowed in the playing area, unless it is the arena table were restricted numbers will be allowed for spectating.

  6. Once training has finished players should leave the club promptly.

  7. Ensure equipment is cleaned thoroughly after use. 

  8. If a player becomes unwell after the competition, they should first contact their GP/HSE and then inform the INDO. The INDO will then follow advice provided to them by the HSE on the next steps.

  9. Players should be encouraged to remind other players of the guidelines, in a gentle way, when they witness poor practices.

  10. Repeated poor practice should be reported to the INDO as soon as possible.

  11. Food and drinks in the arena will governed by hotel policy.

  12. While tables are been prepared by table fitters no-one will be allowed in the playing area.

  13. When last matches are played at the end of the day playing area will be vacated and locked in preparation for the next day's event.

Equipment 

  1. Practice caution with the equipment. Sanitise all handheld implements prior to and after use e.g.Players must bring and only use their own equipment.

  2. Players should not share this equipment with or use the equipment of other players.

  3. Although there is no specific evidence that equipment can spread COVID-19, we know that contamination from respiratory droplets from an infected person can potentially survive on hard surfaces for up to three days.

  4. Clean equipment with a disinfectant spray at the beginning and conclusion of matches.

  5. All darts stands will be disinfected before any match starts.

  6. All darts and cases are the owner’s responsibility and MUST be removed from arena when matches are finished and taken with you at all times.

Other related information

  1. People not to be afraid to approach the top table to inform committee if people are invading your space and not practicing social distancing.

  2. Electronic records of all participants contact details will be asked and maintained. This will help to facilitate contact tracing in the event that a participant becomes ill with COVID 19.

  3.  Hotel staff and INDO officials are there to help please be respectful.

  4.  All persons attending and competing in the tournament must comply with the Hotel COVID Rules when on site ( Policy on hotel website).

  5. Any attendees/participants (players, officials, family members etc.) On breach of these rules and those on social distancing may result in a ban. Please be respectful of the rules, they are there to protect you and other people’s safety during these times.

*** IT’S VERY IMPORTANT THAT PEOPLE AND PLAYERS UNDERSTAND BEFORE ARRIVING TO ANY VENUE, THAT TO RUN ANY TOURNEMENT EFFECTIVELY AND SUCCESSFULLY THAT THE ONUS IS AS MUCH ON THEM AS THE ORGANISERS DURING COVID –19.

 SOCIAL DISTANCING IS THE NEW NORMAL AND WE ALL HAVE TO SELF MAINTAIN THIS NEW NORMAL. PLEASE READ THE INSTRUCTED POLICY AND PROCEDURES TO BE ADHERED TOO WHILE ATTENDING ANY DARTS EVENTS.

WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER SO WE MUST WORK TOGEHTER FOR EVERYONES BENEFIT AND THE SAFETY OF OTHERS WHILE STILL HAVING FUN. ***
